I'm liking the 2015 Chrysler 200's interior.

It seems a bit odd how the wood trim on the dash doesn't wrap completely around the vents/Uconnect system, but it looks pretty good otherwise IMO.

What is going on.

I know. This is what Lincoln ought to be doing while getting its product line together.

It looks good, but will it be good to live with? We shall see.

This interior looks like how this commercial makes me feel:

Good, but also a little on-edge and weirded out. Very anticipatory.

From first glance, this looks 1000% better than the Cruze/Volt/Sonic interior. It seems more old-fashioned, but definitely classier. The plastic on the Cruze makes me think of 19-year-old sorority girls who beg their pushover dads for a shiny car so they can fit in.

The Cruze/Volt are C-segment compacts and the Sonic is a B-segment subcompact; I think the Malibu, Fusion, Optima and Camcordaltima are the more appropriate comparisons given that the 200 is a midsize sedan.

Ditch about half of those steering wheel buttons and then maybe we'll talk.

As someone who drives a 2012 Focus regularly, I'm relieved that the buttons on the 200's steering wheel are mostly similar shapes on the side spokes rather than clusters of buttons splattered across the wheel.

You can include the Malibu then, because it uses the same interior trim (materials, layout, etc.) as the Cruze and Volt, at least they did last year. I'd comment on the Impala, but I believe it's interior is very different.

Is the Cruze's interior really that bad? GM plastics do get a bad rap, from what I've heard, but you seemed to have a good overall impression of the car's interior in your write-up .

The base interior (LS) is terrible. It's covered in these extremely cheap gloss plastic pieces that attract dust, fingerprints, and don't feel good at all, and looked like they were one good hit away from cracking up the middle. It seemed like an excuse to sell many colors without costing them much money.

But the upgraded one (1/2 LT and above, which was on the particular Cruze I drove that day) wasn't bad at all, and they replace most of those panels with fake aluminum or some composite leather/fabric/alcantara simulation. Neither was close to what the new 200 looks like though.

And this is coming from someone who is used to daily driving this:

So my standards aren't terribly high, but I would take textured rubbery-plastic in a comfortable shape over finger-print covered mommy-van gloss composites in an unorganized mess any day.

I may be a bit biased though, because I value simplicity, good tactile feedback, and material strength and longevity over expense or strict appearance. I'm one of those "Luxury means peace of mind and makes me feel good" people, instead of "Luxury means impresses people and costs a lot".

I see, so you're thinking of the base Cruze.
I agree with you on the luxury point; for example, I'd rather Cadillac's CUE used knobs and buttons for a classy take on functionality instead of chasing the capacitive-touch novelty and being frustrating to use as a result.

I work in the plant where we've been building these in small numbers since spring. If you have any question about it I can probably answer it. It is leaps and bounds better than the old car. I'm kinda excited to start building them for real.

Looks like they took cues from the Delta's interior. Good. Now fix Lancia, you assholes!

Yeah, comparing prices (I thought the next 200 would be closer to 19000, not 21000) the 200 base would compete more with the Cruze Eco or 1LT, but be undercut by the base model, so it may not be a fair comparison.

I'm liking everything about the 2015 200. It's a sharp looking car.

Can't wait to rent one...

The issue I was with Chrysler, and I know, I had 2 of them, is it goes from 30K$ to 5K$ so quickly.
